Welcome to Cactus Country!

UPDATED 2/18/16:

We continue to archive and build an überlibrary of country music tunes, ranging from a few in the 1920's to the very latest, and all in-between. We're still interested in pushing forward, however, Cactus Country remains in a "care and maintenance" or shutdown mode, especially in light of the latest Copyright Royalty Board's ruling on new streaming rates. For any streaming hobbyist, this suddenly became far more expensive. For any commercial operator, more so! However, this owner is considering moving future operations out of the United States. Live365 shut down their doors after 17 years of operations, I expect other streamers to follow suit as well, especially with a global economy entering freefall, despite what most idiots in the Mainstream Media spout otherwise. I suspect the Board to reduce these rates in the future when few if any legal stream broadcasters remain. Please check back from time to time for any updates. I also hold @cactuscountry on Twitter. If you follow, that's fine. I will not post updates there until something is solid and resolved. For now, those who know me personally and request one, I am willing to grant a cactuscountry.net email address "alias" that will auto-forward anything addressed to the receiver's account. I will not allow first names only or most single-name titles except to Cactus Country staff.

This website is intended at this time for promotional purposes of a classic country music genre format, either for a single FM broadcast station who envisions filling a market niche, or possibly reserved solely for a streaming operation myself. Considering the former, if:

Consider for instance, there are a handful of terrestrial stations who have already gotten rave reviews from listeners who considered satellite radio, yet decided against the expense when those stations had the guts to play what most commercial radio rarely promotes. The few conventional stations on the dial today with the spine to play these legacy tunes will relegate it to a "red-headed stepchild" status of weekends-only play, and for the region that we're considering to locate, we consider that as shameful! Cactus Country won't do this with the core format I've developed.

After this format is implemented by a single station, this website will become the primary internet promotional portal of that station, or at least used in conjunction with any existing domains or other services the station is utilizing, otherwise I will use it for whatever streaming I decided initially. It is my hope that YOU will become that station, but first - you and I should talk. I'm no amateur to broadcast radio as I've been in this business off and on since June 5, 1982. Over the years, I've worked for a number of broadcast stations and demographics in different areas of my state, primarily the country format, and I've performed various roles in these stations. You're encouraged to request a resume' that will either be e-mailed in Microsoft Word .DOC format through "webdude" at this domain name, (My apologies as I can't include a hyperlink due to excessive spam to the old and no-longer-useable webmaster) or snail-mailed. It's to our mutual benefit for Cactus Country to work for you.

If no station can be acquired, perhaps I'll find a spot on the dial outside of my current market and start my own Cactus Country. This format continues to be compiled in 2016 and claims copyright. Listeners are likely to enjoy at how different the sound is, how many songs by an artist or group we have compiled, and how varied the artists are in comparison to other country stations. Even if your competitors attempt to copy you, they likely won't get very far for additional reasons I can't disclose here. The promotional materials I've worked on and will provide to any station that signs on with this format will openly boast these differences to your benefit as possible.
